Share an analytics dashboard with clients

Clients want to see their numbers, ideally without you paying for another full user seat. PureMetrix Shared Links give read-only access you can hand to anyone involved.

Shared Links

Create a Shared Link for the site dashboard the client should see. Send it through the secure channel you normally use with the client.

What to show

  • Traffic compared with the previous period
  • Top landing pages
  • Main goal or shop purchases
  • Campaigns you ran together, by name

What to leave out

Raw lists of broken 404 pages, bot hits, and unfinished experiments. Pick what matters. Your job is to explain the numbers, not to bury the client in CSV files.

Keeping access tidy

  1. Renew or revoke links when contacts leave the company.
  2. Never post Shared Links in public support tickets.
  3. Keep your team's user roles excluded so clients never see visits from your testing.

When a full user seat is better

People who want to dig into the data every day may be better served by their own login. Shared Links work best for people who check in monthly.

Agency process

Include the Shared Link in the kickoff pack, next to the one-page privacy summary. Agency guide.

Revoking access

When a contract ends, renew or delete the Shared Link. Do not leave links that work forever in old email threads. If the client takes the website in-house, transfer the site to them in PureMetrix.

Shared Links instead of endless emails

Clients want proof without yet another login to manage. PureMetrix Shared Links give read-only dashboard access that you can renew when a contract ends. Links are better than CSV email chains that are out of date the next day.

Agree which site and date range the link shows. Agencies with many websites should switch between sites in the Cloud dashboard instead of exporting endless reports.

Boundaries to set in the contract

Shared Links are live dashboards, not branded reports; for scheduled reports with your logo, use email reports (Business and Enterprise). Promise what exists: live dashboards, Connect in WordPress admin where useful, and clear role exclusions so client staff do not distort their own numbers.

The life of a link

Create Shared Links per client, store them in your password manager with a renewal date, and revoke them when the contract ends. For ongoing monitoring, a Shared Link is the ready-made answer to “can you send that as a PDF?”.

Do not paste links into public tickets. Treat them like read-only passwords.

Training the client

Fifteen minutes: how to change the date range, where to find goals, why excluding staff matters, and why their Google Analytics numbers will not match exactly. This short training saves you a lot of support requests later.

What not to put in the email with the link

Do not include site keys or admin passwords. Send the Shared Link, a tip on which date range to look at, and who to contact if numbers look odd. Mention role exclusions so client staff stop “testing” on the live site without realising it distorts the numbers.

Access for several people

Founders, marketing leads, and freelancers may each need their own Shared Link for the same site. When a freelancer changes, renew their link. Shared Links reduce the urge to give full admin access to everyone who asks.

Note in your CRM who has which link, so removing access when someone leaves is routine.

Read-only by default

Explain to clients that Shared Links are for viewing, while settings stay with the agency. Changes to PureMetrix settings should go through a support request. That boundary stops well-meaning clients from deleting goals right before a board meeting.

For groups of companies, do not email one Shared Link to a mailing list—you will never know who still has access.

Store the Shared Link in a password manager vault shared by the client and your team, so access does not depend on one person.

Views for managers and for hands-on staff

Managers want goals and revenue; hands-on staff want landing pages and campaigns. If a Shared Link cannot be tailored to each group, send it with a short “how to read this” note for each audience.

Put the Shared Link in your quarterly review slides so the client always sees the same numbers you discuss live.
