WordPress analytics for agencies
Agencies need installs they can repeat, clean numbers for each client, and a way to share stats without endless email threads. PureMetrix Cloud plus the WordPress plugin is built for exactly that.
Standard install checklist
- Create one PureMetrix site per client domain.
- Install the plugin and click Connect.
- Exclude admin and editor roles so your own visits are not counted.
- Optional: the /px proxy on sites where many visitors use ad blockers.
- Set up one main goal or WooCommerce purchase tracking.
- Create a Shared Link for your contact person at the client.
Reporting pack
Weekly: visitors compared with the previous period, top entry pages, the rate for one goal, notes on campaigns, and WooCommerce revenue if there is any. Skip browser details unless the client asks.
Explaining privacy
A pitch you can reuse: no cookies (visitors are counted with a random value that changes daily), EU hosting on Hetzner, DPA available, a small script. Do not claim the client's whole site can go without a cookie banner unless you have checked every other tracking pixel. Privacy article.
White-label: what to expect
Read white-label for agencies to see what is available today (Shared Links and branded email reports) and what is not.
Multisite portfolios
See multisite analytics if you run WordPress networks rather than single sites.
One workflow for all clients
Agencies need one routine that works for every client: Connect, exclusions, one main goal or WooCommerce purchases, optional proxy, and a Shared Link for the client's Monday meeting. PureMetrix is built around that routine—not around separate local plugins that each look and work differently.
Use consistent names for sites and campaigns so you can compare clients. Write down the DPA and EU/Hetzner facts once in your onboarding pack.
What to sell carefully
Sell insights and implementation. Do not promise product features that do not exist. Clients notice when the dashboard and your slides tell different stories.
Onboarding template
Day 1: Connect, exclusions, decide on a proxy, one goal or WooCommerce purchases. Day 2: send the Shared Link to the client, add a short paragraph for the privacy policy, provide the DPA if needed. Day 3: UTM spreadsheet and a check of the main landing pages. PureMetrix fits this template; separate local setups rarely work well across twenty clients.
Keep a checklist for all clients in your project management tool, with the last four characters of each site key and the excluded roles.
Quarterly reviews without spreadsheet chaos
Open the Shared Link live in the meeting. Point out wins using campaign tags and goal trends. Avoid emailing five CSV files that do not match the dashboard you show on screen.
Playbook for junior analysts
First week with a new client: check that tracking works, plus exclusions, goals, and proxy; list the top entry pages; list the campaigns; note one risk in the setup. Shared Links make it easy to review this with a team lead. Working the same way for every client is what the agency sells.
Contract scopes that hold
Sell monthly analysis hours separately from installation. PureMetrix makes installation repeatable; analysis is where you earn your fee. Limit ad-hoc “can you pull a CSV?” requests by pointing to the Shared Links you already set up.
Add a setup check halfway through the contract—exclusions, goals, proxy—so silent breakage does not only show up at the quarterly review.
If clients insist on Google Analytics screenshots, agree a fixed end date for running both tools in parallel instead of maintaining two sets of numbers forever.
Security questionnaires for many clients
Keep a set of ready-made answers: EU/Hetzner, cookieless, DPA, exclusions, Shared Links, /px proxy. Reuse them for every client instead of rewriting the PureMetrix facts for each tender. Consistent answers also make it less likely you promise too much by accident.
Once a month, have analysts review each other's goal definitions; small differences creeping in across clients are a typical agency problem.
Once a quarter, sit in on a client's Monday meeting to see whether the Shared Link is actually opened or ignored.
Knowledge base entries
Store Connect steps, exclusion lists, and rules for renewing Shared Links in your agency knowledge base. Every junior should install PureMetrix the same way, step by step. Inconsistency is what makes analytics contracts feel expensive.
Set a time limit for installation work so your analysis hours stay the visible value for the client each month.
Write down in your internal playbook how your agency handles WordPress analytics, with a named owner and a review date, so your PureMetrix reporting matches how your team actually works.
Use a standard kickoff checklist: Connect, exclusions, one goal, optional proxy, Shared Link, and a one-page privacy note for the client folder.
