Bot filtering

PureMetrix filters out known bots and other automated visitors as data arrives, so your dashboard shows mostly real people.

What is included

  • Bot detection runs on our servers when data arrives — you do not need to change your tracking code.
  • In WordPress you can also exclude user roles (e.g. editors), so your own team’s visits do not inflate the numbers.

If numbers still look too high, check your Shields and exclusion rules. If you use a proxy, make sure it passes on the visitor’s IP address in the X-Forwarded-For header.

Verify

  • Open https://app.puremetrix.org and check that the menus and buttons match this guide.
  • After changing the tracking code, open your site in a private browser window and check that the visit shows up in Realtime.
  • If numbers look wrong, check the domain and public key, the Free plan limit, and your bot and user-role exclusions.
