Excluding your own visits and pages

Your own visits, your team and test traffic distort the numbers – and count towards your plan’s pageview limit. Three ways to keep them out.

1. Exclude yourself in this browser

Open your website, open the developer console (F12) and run:

localStorage.setItem('puremetrix_ignore', '1')

From now on, this browser sends nothing for this site. To undo it, run localStorage.removeItem('puremetrix_ignore'). Repeat this on every browser and device you use.

2. WordPress: exclude roles

In PureMetrix Analytics → Settings, choose which roles are not tracked, for example administrators and editors. Logged-in users with these roles are then never counted.

3. Shields in the dashboard

Under Site settings → Shields you can block traffic by rule:

  • IP shields – your office or agency network.
  • Country shields – countries you do not serve.
  • Page shields – paths such as /wp-admin/* or test pages.
  • Hostname shields – staging or preview domains.

Shields apply from the moment you save them; past data stays unchanged.

Check that it works

  • Open your site in a private window (not excluded) and confirm the visit appears under Live now in the dashboard.
  • Repeat in your excluded browser – no new visit should appear.
