File downloads

Count downloads of common file types (for example PDF or ZIP) automatically once file-download tracking is switched on.

Enable

1. Site settings → General → Tracking → file downloads (data-downloads="true").
2. Or enable the matching toggle in the WordPress plugin snippet settings.

Each download appears as an event. You can use it as a goal, just like outbound link clicks.

Verify

• Open https://app.puremetrix.org and check that the labels there match this guide.
• After any change to the snippet, visit your site once in a private window to send a test pageview.
• If numbers look wrong, check the domain and public key, the Free-plan limit, and whether bots or user roles are excluded.
